FLUIDOS Participation in European Commission’s Swarms Workshop
On September 5, FLUIDOS took part in the Swarms Workshop held in Brussels. This workshop, organised by the European Commission, gathered key stakeholders from the cloud, edge and IoT sectors to review the progress of the Swarm Intelligence cluster of projects, namely INCODE, TaRDIS, OASEES, OpenSwarm and SMARTEDGE. The talks focused on the collective efforts to advance autonomous distributed systems.
Albert Seubers, representing FLUIDOS, delivered an engaging introduction to the concept of Swarms and their significance in distributed systems within the continuum. He highlighted the need for a MetaOS to ensure secure and trusted collaboration among a diverse and evolving range of devices. This was followed by a discussion that included FLUIDOS and other MetaOS projects, where participants explored the impact of swarms in the continuum and the necessity for standardisation in Reference Architecture by Open Continuum.
The workshop also covered key strategic areas such as dissemination, standardisation, and platform-building. The importance of collaboration within the Swarm cluster was emphasised, particularly around creating a unified identity and demonstrators that are accessible and understandable to external stakeholders.
FLUIDOS’s involvement further reinforced its commitment to advancing innovation in the cloud-edge-IoT landscape and contributing to the development of a secure, seamless computing continuum.
